I’m a freelance writer, editor and proofreader. My aim is to produce clear, concise copy which makes you look good, whether that’s by proofreading what you’ve written, editing it, or writing it from scratch. I’m an advanced professional member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading).

  1. Dear Ms Badger,
I ‘m afraid I’m not seeking proof reading – although God knows I need it. But I am asking for information, please. I’m editing Evelyn Waugh’s journalism, which contains an article called ‘Equitation’. The article is half about classical horsemanship, the second half is about Captain Hance (John Edward). I am writing to you because you have a couple of the Captain’s books for sale and I hoped you might know, or know of some place where I could find, a few basic facts like DOB and DOD. Needless to say I’ve been endlessly at Herr Doctor Google, but, as you see, with no result
Warmest best wishes, and my apologies for writing to you on your business website.I couldn’t find another way

    • Hello – thank you for your comment. I don’t have any other information other than what’s on the website. It’s possible that I do have some information lurking in some of my equine literature collection, so I’ll have a look and see if I can dig anything out. Very exciting that you’re working on Waugh: my husband is a big fan and I know will be interested in your book.

  2. Hello Jane, I found your site through facebook. Someone mentioned your name, so I investigated.
I am soon hoping to publish my horse (Novella) book for middle school to adult readers (it is with an editor right now). Do you promote other author’s books?
What is the process? I am learning that self-promotion/marketing is the hardest part of writing and publishing a book.
Please let me know your thoughts,

    • Hello Ann – I’m afraid I only promote those authors I publish. On rare occasions, I’ll share books I’ve enjoyed with my followers, but I don’t encourage people to send me books, as sheer pressure of work means I’m not that likely to read them. You’re right that self-promotion is the hardest part. There are good groups out there on Facebook run by PR specialists which often have a lot of good information. Rhea Freeman does good podcasts with a lot of helpful advice.

      Good luck with the book!
